Our goal is to educate students of all ages and backgrounds on the benefits of cultivating their own food, while fostering a connection with nature. We have units across 37 school districts in New Jersey, where students learn about ecosystems and crops while enjoying the process and even getting to taste (literally) the fruits of their hard work. Our versatile units can be placed anywhere space is available, from a hallway, to the back of a classroom, to cafeterias or even a greenhouse if available! We have a unit to accommodate your space.
Joseph A. Taub School - Paterson, NJ
Drop The Beet Farms custom designed and fabricated five Aquaponics and Hydroponics Systems for state of the art Aquaponics Laboratory Greenhouse at Joseph A Taub School. The laboratory serves as an effective teaching tool for thousands of students, where they grow a variety of veggies from herbs, to leafy greens to full size fruits and enjoy farm to table tasting lessons!
Forrestdale School - Rumson, NJ
This custom designed, hardscaped aquaponics system features a 200 plant capacity, 200 gallon aquarium, and 300 gallon underground water reservoir to mediate temperature fluctuations. This system was designed to make use of underutilized greenhouse space. What started out as aquaponics system has since grown into a 14 tree apple orchard, 80 shiitake log farm, Chicken coop, rain garden and a custom Agricultural STEM program elective that has over 160 students per year. The greenhouse is now just one element of the courtyard that is now a fully fledged farm and curriculum maintained, consulted and designed by Drop The Beet, LLC.
West New York Middle School - NJ
This 300 Plant Aquaponics system was designed to create a functional aesthetic for the main foyer space platform. It features a custom built 4ft x 4ft x 4ft Aquarium and state of the art filtration system. As seen on ABC news with Miguel Amara, and Localish. Plus, this school is home to a custom-designed 128-plant hydroponic unit! Together, these systems produce fresh veggies all year round, ensuring that staff and students can enjoy delicious, homegrown produce at any time!
Bradley Beach Elementary School - NJ
This movable 70 plants system is designed to transform any school space! At Bradley, students from Pre-K to 8th grade can enjoy the beauty of nature right in the hallway while engaging in activities like seeding, transplanting, and harvesting their very own veggies. This hands-on experience allows them to learn about aquaponic ecosystems in an exciting and interactive way. Perfect for any classroom or science lab, all you need is an outlet to run this system!
